Please note: There are several ways to get your child on your back. This is our preferred method. Be sure to have someone spotting you the first few times that you practice. You may also choose to do this over/near a soft surface like a bed or couch.
- Tie the bottom straight strap of the carrier around your waist like an apron using a sqaure knot. Make sure that the carrier is centered on your back. Also be sure the side of the carrier that you want to face out is facing your bottom when you tie it on.
2. Place your child on your hip and slide him around to your back.
Keep one hand on your child's bottom to secure him. Lean
forward slightly to create a "table" for them to lie on.
3. Once you've got him lying securely on your back (still keeping
one hand on his bottom) grab one strap and pull it up over your
shoulder. Place it between your knees and hold it securely. Do
the same with the other strap.
4. Once both straps are over your shoulders, pull them tightly
(hopping a little bit while pulling helps to get it super tight).
5. From here there are two things that you can do:
- Pull the straps straight under your shoulders like a backpack or
- Cross the straps over your chest and then pull them to the back.
6. Then take the straps and cross them beneath the child's bottom
(for a newborn, tie behind their back).
7. Bring the straps under the child's legs and around to the front.
8. Tie in a square knot.
**The
most important thing to remember with a back carry is to keep trying. It is hard at first but will get easier with a
few practice sessions. Don't be afraid to ask for help either. In no time, you will be confidently doing this in public and amazing your friends!!!**
